The vision for the creation and mission of Your O&P First; to create a comprehensive orthotic-prosthetic center that specialties in spinal, pediatric and trauma orthoses and provides exceptionally high quality service in all areas of orthotics and prosthetics.
Second; to establish an orthotics research center to innovate and implement new advancements in the orthotics profession.
Third; to unite international collaboration with orthotists, physicians and scientists to analyze new, and improve existing orthotic techniques. Our StaffJohn Carlson, COF, Prosthetist, Vice President John Carlson, Vice President, has been with Nelson Prosthetic & Orthotic Laboratory since its formation in 1981. He has been owner and Vice President of the company since 1993. Prior to joining us, he worked at American Prosthetics in Kenmore, New York. John is a Prosthetist and Certified Orthotic Fitter. Sarah Meier, BSME, Resident Orthotist Sarah Meier received her Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University at Buffalo, where she graduated with honors. She joined the Nelson Staff in 2000, and completed the LongTerm Certificate Course in Orthotics at Northwestern University (Chicago, Illinois). Sarah is currently fulfilling the residency requirements to become a Certified Orthotist with the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC). Donald Newcastle, P.T., O.C.S., Resident Orthotist Don received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Dewer College (Buffalo, New York) in 1992, and became a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy in 1999. Prior to entering the Prosthetic and Orthotic field, he was Director of Physical Therapy for Western New York Physical Therapy at Village Glen. Don joined our staff in 2000, and completed the Long Term Certificate Course in Orthotics at Northwestern University (Chicago, Illinois). He is currently fulfilling his residency requirements to become a Certified Orthotist with the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC). In addition, Don is an Associate Faculty Member at Northwestern University's Prosthetic and Orthotic Center, where he lectures several times a year to Orthotic students on the topic of patient evaluation.
